About Us

“Amar Shonar Bangla, Ami Tomayee Valobashi…” The land, rivers, and lives of the common people have woven a vibrant cultural heritage that sets Bangladesh apart from its neighboring regions. This heritage blends traditions with modern influences, creating a unique tapestry that Ektara aims to celebrate and preserve.

Our Mission

Ektara is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting and educating the Bengali community in the D.C. metro area through the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh. We strive to foster a sense of pride and belonging by showcasing the diverse art forms that have flourished in this land for centuries.

Our Legacy

Over the past 10 (ten) years, Ektara has organized numerous sold-out productions at prestigious venues such as George Mason University, Arlington County Public Schools, and Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia, USA. These events have attracted record numbers of Bangladeshi Americans, eager to experience the vibrant tapestry of their cultural roots.

Our productions have encompassed a wide range of traditional and contemporary art forms, including Bangladeshi music, dance, live drama, musicals, fashion shows, and comedy skits. Notable highlights include the acclaimed “Probashi ITTADI” in 2004 and the eponymous “Ektara” in 2007.

Our Commitment

At Ektara, we are committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Bangladesh through the tireless efforts of our volunteer artists and participants, who reside within the D.C. Metro area. Our productions are a labor of love, a way to express our gratitude and give back to the Bengali community that has embraced us.

Join us on this journey as we celebrate the rich tapestry of Bangladesh, one performance at a time.
